Indian Headdress

I made this cake for my Father In-law who is the chief of our tribe.
The interesting thing about this (that I just realised) is the name of this website was inspired by him. Long story, if I get to know you, I tell you more.

Seen from the side the idea I was going for was an Indian Headdress, not the Indian`s head, so I left the rest of the cake white to make it look more like a manikin head that the Headdress may be displayed on.

I`m not sure if a close-up on some of the detail shows it, but each feather was made by hand in advance off the cake in sugar paste and allowed to harden. Then positioned on the finished cake a few days later.

Want to know how the Sugar Feathers were made?
